An introduction to your Lifeskills Practitioner

In 1985 I graduated from MMU with Management and Technology Diplomas and started my career as a work study engineer for a manufacturing company in Dublin.

Specialising in targets and performance management I became a manager responsible for staff recruitment, training and development for a large retailer on the Isle of Man. Along the way I became involved with various community enterprise initiatives and set up a small business of my own.

I achieved my post graduate certificate in teaching and training whilst lecturing at the Isle of Man College of Further Education in 1992. Whilst working with a diverse range of adults to progress towards their goals and qualifications in a variety of vocational areas I was awarded assessor qualifications in 1995.

Following a move to mainland U.K. in 1997 I worked for a large national financial services organisation in staff training and development. I subsequently accepted an associate lecturer post at Swindon College of Further Education in 2001.

In 2004 I relocated to West of Ireland and tutored on a Back to Education Programmes for Sligo VEC and facilitated a return to work programme in Castlebar for a national training provider. I successfully set up an award nominated business in 2006 and now specialise in Lifeskills Training Programmes. As a member of Mayo County Council Childcare Trainers Network and active in Network Mayo and Sligo Women in Business I aim to facilitate the delivery and practical use of Lifeskills Training.

Motivation and people development through training and education is my strength and passion. Lifeskills most positively affects the outcomes of individuals and promotes development in communication, interpersonal and personal skills, self management, emotional intelligence, productivity and creativity. The whole purpose of training people in the area of Lifeskills is to guide people on how to get the best out of themselves and to lead a healthier happier and more fulfilling life in work, at home or in business.
